Every glance is like bumping into a wall With eyes like brown amber flowing into a flawed heart She catches it close A tight squeeze sends her into a spiraling jaunt How witty and clever But no one seems to notice the platonic charm Of nothing Because age makes us into nothing, where we can understand nothing We can feel nothing At all.

     They pulled into the stone driveway, the headlights illuminating the vacant windows of the expedient, dreary house and the rain that streamed down from the sky. He turned the ignition off with his right hand, and looked to her. She sat quietly with her wet, dark hair that stuck to her shoulders and wished around her jaw. Her hands rested in her lap. She returned his gaze with her bright eyes, and they exchanged a smile. He opened his door, limped around the car, and guided her through the rain to the doorstep. He fidgeted with the keys. She sighed with a smile on her face as he opened the door and let her in.     He flipped the lights

I hate being alone. You’re so controlling. You say you give me privileges But you take them away when the truth comes. It’s the truth, and I say it quietly and respectfully And you yell and scream at me like a toddler throwing a tantrum. And then I yell back so you can hear me over your tyranny. I don’t do drugs.  This is the life of a raindrop. You sit in a cloud, and you’re never next to any friends, only strangers. You’re all constantly bumping into each other, and no one ever says that they’re sorry, or that you look nice today, or even that they've seen your family around. There’s truth to that last part, though, because they haven’t.  You don’t have any family, and neither does the stranger next to you, or the raindrop that is next to that stranger.
